Greetings to you,
Having a loved one who endures enormous suffering from hearing distressing voices, has provided the motivation for myself, and other members of our management committee who have loved ones in similar situations, to set up a Hearing Voices Network in NSW.
There are many Mental Health Organisation’s throughout NSW, and they all do a wonderful job. However, up until now, there has not been an organisation that deals specifically with the needs of people who hear distressing voices. Establishment of this network is aimed clearly at filling that void.
There are many Hearing Voices Networks throughout the world, and many outstanding individuals leading and representing them. These Networks have provided the impetus, and laid the foundation for organisations like ours to follow. Without their efforts and commitment we would not exist.
We are proudly members of Intervoice, the International fulcrum of voice hearing networks. In embarking on the establishment of our network, we have been fortunate in being able to call on the vast experience of our sister networks. In particular, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Lyn Mahboub, Director, Hearing Voices Network Australia, and her team, for allowing us permission to utilize their vast library of Intellectual Property to fast track our development.
If you are a voice hearer, carer, clinician, service provider, or whoever, we warmly welcome you to this web site, and sincerely hope you find it helpful.
We, as a Network, have been greatly encouraged by the success of the Hearing Voices movement around the world. We now look forward to imparting those skills, and helping you along your journey toward recovery.
